Creating a .lcb file
« on: November 17, 2015, 11:10:11 AM »
Maybe I am doing something wrong.
I wanted to do some effects on my pixel snowflakes. So I created a 10 sec. sequence and threw in the "Strobe" effect. I went to convert the file to a .lcb. Seemed to work fine. I went over to my LOR file and loaded the clipboard with the .lcb file that was created in xLights.  I went to the first snowflake and selected the whole section that I wanted that effect to appear. I then clicked on the "Snowflake 10 sec. strobe effect" in the loaded clipboards. I chose "Stretch to fit" below that. Right clicked on the section to paste it in. When I did...nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
Robert
ps below is the attachment of the .fseq file.

I don't know the .lcb format but looking at the file I see it has several blank channels then a block of data and more blank channels at the end.  So wherever you are pasting needs to match up with that number of channels.  Also try not using the "Stretch to fit"

Thanks. I think the file might be messed up. Going to look at it after work tonight.

lcb files are "LOR Clip Board". They have no channel into. Their advantage is they are a block of data that can be apsted anywhere inside of LOR. You load up the lcb into LOR and then you can do a ctl-v to paste them.

lms "LOR Music Sequence" files do have channel info so when you load them they load to a specific place in LOR.

When exporting a model, i recommend lcb files since they can easily be pasted anywhere.

Which model did you export and how many channels does it have?  LCB file may not have channels numbers but I can still see how many channels of data it's trying to write.  I see about 4920 channels that are empty and a big block of channels with data and then another 2040 channels that are empty at the end.  So I believe wherever you paste that file its going to look blank for the first 4920 channels.

Yeah Gil I was doing this during my lunch / planning period today. Not the best time to be trouble shooting something ;-) Kid, parent and teacher interruptions ya know ;-)

I saw it REALLY screwed up the rest of my channels below that block of channels for that snowflake. Working outside on the display right now. Hope to come in, in a few to do some sequencing. Rain is a coming so working fast!

The prop is a 48 pixel snowflake. It should have only been 144 channels. THAT didn't happen. I was trying to do a strobe effect.

Yep Sean. I did the copy and paste with the .lcb right. Just messed up the model. Do wish though there was a quicker way of generating a .lcb though :-)

Ok. What am I doing wrong. Sean. I thought that was the case. No channel info. Just effects data. However Gil is right. TONS of empty channels. That model is in Universe 15 channels 1 to 144.  So what do I need to do in order to copy and paste those into my LOR sequence?

i am not sure robert.

you can right click a model in the SEQUENCER tab and export a lcb file
-OR-
You can use the CONVERT tab and change your sequence file (Note: not just one model) into a lcb file.

post your xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and your sequence file (like wizards.xml).
we can take a look
please specify which mdoel you were exporting

Yeah you sure you didn't use the Convert tab?  It seems like you had enough channels for the whole sequence.

This is interesting Sean. MAYBE it was something I did. I used the convert button, and it wiped out all the elements below it. (again using the .lcb it created) I did the right click thing (much faster thank you ;-) and it actually pasted it right into LOR with the .lcb it created.  Honestly. Probably operator error. However if I can make this work again, it will make my life easier in updating all my sequences.
Thanks!
Still will post the files you requested since again it may have been something I did. I will post BOTH .lcb's. The one that has "10 sec" in the title is the one created with the convert button. The one without "10 sec" in it was created with the right click thing.

I can't tell if you understand what you did wrong.  If you use Convert then it creates a file that includes the entire sequence.  That's why there were thousands of blank channels before the data you wanted because you must not have had any effects on the other models.  If you only want one model then you need to do a model export.  You tried to paste an entire sequence worth of data onto one element in LOR and the first 4920 channels were empty so it was going to wipe them out when you pasted.  Don't need to open any files to figure this out you already told us. :)

Ok.
When I saw the .lcb, thought I found what I needed to do. Yep. All I wanted was the model.
Thanks!
