RGB strand color off
« on: November 23, 2015, 12:33:31 PM »
Trying to see if anyone has a solution. I wrapped my window with 2811 pixel strip  using 4 strands of string. I notice that 3 of the strands are RGB color order and the the last one is GRB.  The four strands are designated to a single output in my controller. When I try to change the color order I can only change all 4 strands. Is there a way in XLights or in my AlphaPix16 controller to change only the 4th strand color order?

So , If I understand correctly , the 4 strips are in sequence , ie one after the other and one of them seems to be GRB ?

First check your channel definitions on the controller and player very carefully , to make sure that they are not slightly off. have u tried swapping them to confirm that the orientation is differnt ?

In xl , you will need 2 models -one for RGB (3 strips ) and the other GRB and then you can add them to a Group.

I dont know about the aplhaPix controller to advise if it can be changed on the controller, other controllers do allow you to specify the start channel of an output where the orientation needs to change.

The only pixel controller I know of that can do what you need is the Falcon F16v2. It has a Virtual String option that would let you change Color Order within the same actual string.

Otherwise, you'll need two grouped models like Gerry described.

Unless you bought the strips at different times , 99 % of the time , you would expect to get the same orientation and therefore the problem is not do with the physical cables.

If your controller supports it (many of them (eg P2) do, then you can change some of the channels in a universe to a different orientation.

Thank you.  I created a new model and grouped them together.
