Question about the DMX effect
« on: December 06, 2015, 01:54:06 AM »
There isn't any documentation on the DMX effect, at least none that I could find, so I thought I'd ask here.  I'm trying to setup a couple custom channels to trigger events in the Falcon Pi Player.  So I have a couple questions:

  • If these two channels are 100000 and 100001 what is the relation of the channel numbers in the DMX effect?  Is equating channel 1 to channel 100000 and 100001 to 2?
  • What is the difference between the two different types of tab settings?  One says ramp, and I'm pretty sure I know what the ramp is, but not sure what that setting would do to a ramp?  Is the first setting for intensity?  Maybe someone needs to explain what ramp means just in case I'm thinking about it incorrectly?

Thanks everyone!

The channels are going to be offset from wherever you define the model.  So if you create a model for a DMX device at channel 450 then the channel 3 slot will control channel 452.  The purpose of DMX is to output a value between 0-255.  The tabs are for using a start DMX value and an end DMX value.  Effects have a duration so it would ramp between the start and end values during the duration of the effect.

Thanks Gil!  That explained it perfectly.  I now completely understand.
