Import Model
« on: June 20, 2016, 12:21:34 PM »
I promised I tried researching the forum before I posted.  Knowing my luck I just missed it.   :)

Anyhow, I created a custom model in xlights last year for a snowflake.  I ended up running out of time and used LOR software last year.  I am now back to xLights but on a different computer and I have a different layout.  I do want to use the custom model from last year though.  I can still see it on my other computer.  But I can't figure out how to get it over to my new computer.  I have saved the model as a .csv and moved it to my new computer but I don't know how to add it to my new layout.

I am currently using ver 2016.15

Clear as mud?

Models can now be exported and imported in a format xLights understands natively.  I don't know the exact button presses but I'll bet it's in the user manual.  You'll need to upgrade to the latest xLights on both computers.

To access the export function right click on the model in the layout tab. It will save a .xmodel file which you can them import into your other machine. To import use the right most model icon on the layout tab.

Only if you have the same 2016 version of xLights on both machines can you export and import a model. Something tells me that the first machine has not been updated.

That was the problem.  I just updated the computer I am using now.  Did not update the other computer.  I got it now.  Thanks!
