Blink each pixel, 1 to 100, sequentially **SOLVED**
« on: July 09, 2016, 05:12:15 PM »
I'm making small 360 degree wire-frame trees each with one 100 pixel string wrapped around horizontally, bottom to top.  I want to rapidly light only one pixel at a time from top to bottom of the tree.  I've tried every effect that makes sense (no Video, Text, Piano, etc.) and can't find one that works.  The trees are defined with a Custom Model and I'm using V2016.39.

In essence, if I had an Arch with a hundred pixel strand, how would I blink pixel 1, then 2, 3...99, 100, repeat?

Have you tried single strand or meteor or bars  , but with a render style of single strand rather than default ?

Not sure if it's the "correct" way of doing it, but following what Gerry suggested, I placed the single strand effect on my group of arches.  Render style set at single line.  They key part from my experiment is to select all eight colors, the last 7 set to black.  The first color set to what you want to display.

That's the closest I could get to a single node to light at a time.  When I pause the playback I can only see one light on at a time.

That was the solution.  I hadn't looked at any of the options in Layer Settings.  A Render Style of Single Line is the ticket.

Kevin, didn't have to select any black colors.  Setting the Single Strand Number Chases and Chase Size at '1' lights just one pixel.

Thanks guys.
