I Need To Pay For Nutcracker Programming Help
« on: August 22, 2014, 11:01:44 PM »
I'm new to the group, and I just built at 13 x 7 tall RGB matrix and now need to figure out how to leverage the power of Nutcracker to import into LOR to run my christmas show.

My PROBLEM is I invested way to much time trying to learn how to build the RGB jumbotron type myself and now I really just need to hire someone to help me with the sequencing.

Does anyone have suggestions on who I could hire to consult?

My goal is to take mp4 videos and create them into playable videos on my 13x7 rgb matrix.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

David, a 13 x 7 matrix will be fine for scrolling text and lots of graphic effects, but it won't be very good for MP4 movies.

My matrix is 40 x 30 and it is just OK for movie files.  I use a lot of GIF and JPG files, sized down to my 40x30.  I also use animated GIFs.

Look at Elvis's Blue Christmas. That's about as good as it gets for a matrix even as physically large as mine (2 inch pitch)

I have to agree with Jon, 13x7 is just not enough pixels to put out a movie.

Think about this
low res movies would be 320x160
medium res 800x600
hi res 1900x1200

you are making a 13x7

You can try all different size models and see what the movies look like before you ever purchase any hardware.

try a 13x7
26x14
50x50

and play effects and movies on them.

as far as paying for help, you dont need to do that. just let me know and we can setup a teamviewer. ill help you get a couple of sings sequenced on your models.

with such a small matrix (13x7) you probably need to stick to effects/

my megatree is 20x120

just ping me when you are available and we can setup a teamviewer.'

ok..  I looked at your matrix and you said it was 50 x 50? Is that inches?
When I said 13 x 7 I mean FEET.   So Mine is 156 inches tall by 84 Inches wide :)

With a 1.25 pixel space up and 2 inch pixel space between strands.  37 Strands of
smart RGB ligting on 3 circuit boards. 122 pixels per strand.

So I've spent $1000's in equipment, soddering, 100's of hours in research and I'm
at my last step and I'm struggling with the video part.

Teamviewer would be amazing! But I definately don't want to take someones time
for free.  How about a nice starbucks card ? :)

I think everyone thought you were talking inches, now your talking feet, that is a great size.

whew! I thought I might have to make it double the size.. and i'm already at the end of my finances for this year long project ;)

How do I contact someone to do a teamviewer? Is it ok to put my email in at realstrategic<@>gmail.com?

Thank you to those that posted! I feel less stressed about this project after seeing some of your stuff  online.

My goal is to go from mp4 and giff and to convert it to LOR.  I've tried several times, but I must be missing something.

How do I connect with you to do a team viewr?

To avoid confusion again, it really won't matter what the physical size is when programming a matrix.

How many strands (37)
How many pixels per strand (122)
and whether you "doubled" them back (and it would be 61 pixels wide)

jon is correct, physical dimensions dont matter. we just nned to know how many strings, how many lights per string and how you are wrapping them.
