Changing sequence start position
« on: July 24, 2016, 06:00:27 PM »
That title may be a little misleading, but I haven't been able to find this answer in other postings or in the document or video's (may not be searching for the correct verbiage).

But what I'm wanting to know is that for any of my sequences that I have setup, I wanted to add my intro and ending Voice Overs to each media file, so that I only have a single sequence file for each song instead of basically 3 sequences (intro VO, song, ending VO).

So if I add the VO's to the media song, would it be possible to modify the existing sequence to push all the current sequenced effects out past the intro VO?

Just wondering if this would be worth doing?

If it was me, I would use 3 sequences because I for one often update and change sequences after the beginning of the season.  I like having descrete single function sequences rather than one large one.  With one larger one you will have to edit the audio files to add them altogether.  Once the voice overs are complete and ready to go all you have to do is schedule them.  Just my personal preference.  Combining files takes away some of KISS stuff on one hand, but I suppose can make it simpler from a scheduling standpoint.  But which is harder, sequencing or scheduling???

Thanks, If I don't get any other responses or ideas, I'll take that into consideration and leave them as they are.

We sequence to the sound track. Assume your into was 30 secs, go into audacity and concatenate the three audio files into one. Sequence to this larger audio file. If u change intro or ending audio u need to redo audio. I would keep it as 3 different files, allows most flexibility

Thanks Sean, yes that is what I was doing, but my sequence is already set to the original audio file beginning.  So I was wondering if I combine an intro and ending to the original audio file, then I would have to 'move' all my existing sequencing timing out past the intro time to get them back aligned with the new beginning time of the adjusted audio.  Since I'm importing my existing sequences from LOR, I'm not starting from scratch on the sequencing.

So that's two for keeping them as they are, so it's looking like that's the way two go (or actually stay).

You know you can move effects wherever you want right?
If you're importing as effects then all you do is zoom out, highlight all the effects, and shift drag them over.

It seems like I've had problems with doing that (in selecting items and moving them).  I'll give it another try just to see if it works for me just to make sure I can do it if needed.

Thank you,

Uncheck the circle on the timing track then you can drag a dashed yellow box around everything.  It will only work on the visible screen so you may need to expand layers and do multiple moves depending on the number of rows.  But it can be done.
