Crashing on creating a new sequence
« on: July 24, 2016, 08:14:18 PM »
Hopefully I'm attaching all the files needed.  This is crashing every time I've tried it.  I don't know if it's due to trying to use a video on this one or something else.  Here are the steps I'm doing:

Start xLights.
Click new Sequence.
Click Musical Sequence.
Click Frozen-Let It Go.mp4
Click 20fps
Click Skip
Click Done
Select my Christmas View
Click Import - Import Effects
Drill to my directory where my Frozen.lms file is located and select it click Open.
Click Load Mapping
Drill to location where my mapping file is located and select it and click Open.
Click OK
Click Render and it crashes.

So I'm never able to save the file since it even crashes on trying to save first (before Rendering I assume since it renders on saving).  Right now I can't continue on with this import so appreciate any information as soon as possible for either a fix or a workaround if possible.

I have a video of the exact same steps above but it ended up being about 9Megs so I couldn't upload it.  Let me know if you still want it.

I just found out something.  I was just starting to try to learn how to do a virtual matrix so that I could view the video in my preview screen.  I just went back and deleted the matrix that I put on the preview and then I was able to import my effects and render/save it.

So it's possible that I didn't have my matrix setup correctly.  I was trying to set the pixels on it possibly higher than I should have thinking I wanted to see the video as best as possible.  And this wasn't going to be something that I wanted exported out so I wasn't sure what the start channel should be so I set it to a very high number.  So i don't know if any of this was what was causing the issue.

Trying to find if there are any training videos out there on how to setup up a virtual matrix so I can view my video to create the sequence to.

Just to follow up on this in case it helps anyone else.  I did find that it was my matrix causing my problem.  I have since learned that the total matrix pixel count needs to be a multiples of the P10 panels.  So the # Strings need to be a multiple of 16 for the height of the panel and the Nodes/String needs to be a multiple of 32 for the panel width.  At least that is what worked for me and then the video plays correctly on it.

This was probably documented but it took me a little while to find it and figure out what I was doing wrong. But it's been working great for me since then.
