Setup issues
« on: August 27, 2016, 11:13:37 AM »
Hey guys I've been working in Vixen for the last year and have been researching different avenues on what I can do. Also the wife likes different shows and it would just take too long to program in vixen. So I downloaded xlights and tried to set it up with just one of my 4 controllers. Everything tested just fine until I added my other controllers. I believe my mistake is in the lingo of the setup. My question is, in vixen it's all about universes, I'm using unicast so I have all ip addresses, but it seems like xlights wants channels and outputs. Are channels referring to the whole show of channels? And are the outputs from the controller or what? I thought it was by the output from controller so I have duplicates and it's not working. Any help would be great

Why don't you post a screenshot of your setup, or better yet the network xml.

If you are using all e131 then you can define your start channels using the #universe:channel format and xlights will work it out for you. Or you can use the output:channel format where output is the number of the row on the setup tab.

@Keithsw1111 I am using e131 for all my controllers. Is that in the Web setup of that or in the xlights software?

Xlights in the model properties start channel.
