Missing effects when importing
« on: September 09, 2016, 07:32:59 PM »
I'm having issues with importing effects from a Lilia sequence that I purchased. I'm working on building a mapping file and running into problems with only partial effects coming over onto my models. As of now I have about half of my models mapped to those on Lilia's when I noticed many effects she has done are missing on my models that I have mapped. Attached are some screenshots of her original sequence and mine after I have imported her sequence. In this example I'm having problems with Lilia's snowflakes 1-7. On my house I have them mapped to my snowflake 1,3,4 and candy canes 1-4. After importing I would expects the effects to look the same, but the majority of the effects are missing or appear different.

We usually need the sequences to help.  Since they are purchased you may need to go to them for help.

Here is the link to download sean and lilias houes pic and layout file.  Its about 6 or 7 posts down that sean provided for us. You can check the sequence you download with their layout to make sure you received a complete download that did not get corrupted somehow . http://nutcracker123.com/forum/index.php?topic=3269.0

As far as the effects looking different on some of your models compared to theirs has alot to do with how your models are laid out compared to the models the effects were built off of. For example my coro flkes have the same basic deign of theirs but my layout for the model is totally different so when i use their snowflke effect it doesnt look like theirs. It works and look ok but not the same. I am now trying to set up my snowflake model as close to theirs to try and get the full benefit of the effect. I have the same issue with my north poles. They look good but not the same but those will be easy to adjust.. most all other models look as they should. If you load their models and click on layout you can see how they have them laid out. I also noticed that model rendering order plays a part too. Hope some of this helps

I think I found the problem and as usual it would be user error. I'm literally sitting poolside on vacation and working on xlights on the laptop and I think a combination on staring at the screen, too much sun and beverages didn't have me seeing an obvious error. I never expected the effects to look the same, but I thought the icons on the timeline would be. On my screenshot I have 3 identical snowflakes doing the same effect, one has icons and the others don't. I'm not sure why since the effect settings show the same effect on all 3. I also have 4 xlights sequences open at once and missed that I wasn't looking at the right Lilia sequence when comparing them.  :-[ My big mistake though is I didn't have a model group that represents my combo of snowflakes and candy canes that I'm am placing all of her snowflake effects on. So whenever there was a Lilia snowflake group effect, it wasn't being applied in my sequence. I think once I create that model group and redo the mapping file accordingly, everything should work.
