Fade appears to make the effect "blink"
« on: September 05, 2014, 03:38:37 PM »
I successfully used fades for my display last year, so I know fades can work.  However, when I am setting fades as I am setting my megatree effects for Christmas 2014, they look like they "blink" instead of just fading out.  I have tried changing the fade duration so it is longer than the timeframe during which the effect is used (which is typically only 3-4 seconds for this song...) and it looks like the effect kind of "pumps" from 100% brightness to 50% then back to 100%.  Now when I turn off the fade, the effect looks fine.  I have used a couple of different effects and I am seeing pretty similar results for each effect.

Any ideas here??   I am turning on the effect during a small bell "ding" during MS's God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen "Sweet" song and I really want it to fade off as the ding fades out instead of just abruptly turning off.   I usually don't just turn effects off; I usually fade out.

thanks in advance.

If you would post the xLights "XML" file for that sequence, others can take a look at it.

Also, be sure to say which Rev of Nutcracker you are working in. (I'm using 3.4.12, currently the latest)

Hmmmm...   Never mind, I guess....  I just added some fades "back into" my sequence so I could send you the xml file..    Now it is working perfectly!!!   I am using 3.4.12; most recent revision.

Edit--I did delete some extraneous timing marks for which I had not set any effects; perhaps that made the difference...

I think it's intermittent. I have seen the same thing but swept it under the rug.
