Crashing when adding video
« on: October 11, 2016, 10:30:39 PM »
I am trying to get The nightmare Before Christmas set up so I can play it on my P10 matrix for Halloween. I have the movie in an mp4 format and I pulled the audio off into an mp3. I open a new musical sequence and added the mp3 just as I do for my Christmas lights. The audio shows up, no problem. I add timing marks as the beginning and the end of the file. I drop video on the matrix within the timing and xlights immediately crashes. The movie is 1.05 GB. Is there something I am doing wrong?

The problem is the file is so long and your channel count so high that you are running out of memory.

Options.
Move to the Mac. The version of xlights there can handle more memory.
Use a video editor and cut down the video length.
Fix your channel count. Do you really have 88000 channels?

We have a Mac but it's kind of old so not sure that will work. I will try ripping the movie into a smaller size. Worse case I can cut it into something like 4 sections and try that. The channel count is high, it's a 48 panel matrix. Thanks for the help.
