So I crashed it....
« on: December 01, 2016, 09:38:49 PM »
I am in the middle, more like the end of drawing my models, and xlights crashed....

when I reopened all but on of my models was gone.

I know I have backups, I can even find the location but how do I get xlights to open it up?

While you are working the file that is saved is your sequence with a .xbkp extension.  So you need to rename that file back to .xml to use it.  But if you reopened the sequence file in the same directory then it trashes that file with a new backup I believe.  You should be able to find the .xbkp file in one of the ...OnStart folders in the backup directory.

We tell people press F10 as you are working. this creates a Backup subdiectory below your show directory. everything gets backed up in ine second.

Because not everyone was doing this Keith Westley implemented an automatic backup when you launch xlights. He created directories with backups on each  start of xlights.

My show directory is "Nutcracker Store". Here u can see the backup directories.

find the sequence or the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file and copy into your show directory/
