Pixel spacing
« on: October 05, 2014, 08:00:34 AM »
I am nearly ready to construct my pixel tree. I have some sequences with pictures and one with a video. My pixels are 4 inch spacing. I did not give this a thought when figuring the height and doing the tree. Do I need to reduce the spacing and make the tree shorter to get good pictures and the video to look good or will this work.

The tree is a 180 degree tree 50 pixels high and 30 wide. First year with pixels.
Thanks for any input on this
Terry

Terry the closer the pixels the better the pictures, when I ordered my pixels they came with 4 inch spacing, when I mounted them into the Pvc I drilled my holes at 3 inch spacing, you can go smaller than that if you like I think it becomes a preference, remember the smaller you go the shorter your tree, at 3 inch spacing my tree is roughly 12 feet in height.

Don,
Thanks. I think I will go with 3 inch then. Maybe next year I can get more pixels and make it taller. I think my tree was 16 feet last year with led lights so it should look ok at 12 feet.  I want it to show the pics. Mounting them with the strips James over at DIYC sold.

Viewing distance is critical, too. If your tree will be 60 to 80 feet from the normal viewing spot, then 4 inches would be fine.

If closer, then a 3 inch pitch is good.

Thanks Jon. It is probably 30 feet from the viewing area.
