issues with lag in a song
« on: October 01, 2014, 12:08:55 PM »
So this happens maybe 1 out of 4 songs I do. When I am creating effects ad lets say I click on a timing mark and press play the song vs. the timing mark wil be 2-4 beats off. It makes it hard to change effects on a downbeat when I have to figure pout how off it is... Has anyone been getting this too?

i have seen that our ability to start on a row and press play can be off.
I noticed it when i had row 1 start at zero seconds, row 2 start at 55 seconds.

when i started on row 1 of the grid a-[layed using the F4 playback, sound was always right on. if i clicked in row 2 and pressed play, sound was off.

That was a few weeks ago.
Now when i doo the same thing , sound is back correct.

Matt wrote the code that positions the windows player to start playing sound in a certain frame.
I will likely not be able to fix this until matt comes back to work on xlights early next year.

I dont tweak timing in the grid (it would be nice to have a real waveform), i tweak it in audacity.

If we are successful we will have a ui that looks more like audacity next year and the grid will go away.

sorry, i cant fix it for this season.

Its alright Sean. I have worked around the issue. I wanted to make sure you guys were aware of it. Thank you for all you do with Xlights and Nutcracker. This should be an exciting year for me as this is my first year with music and light animation and RGB. I have learned so much in the last 6 months! With 7 new RGB elements 10k + channels it has been a huge undertaking.

It has been..

One question still are we going to have the brightness adjustment for each element this year? I put up my window frames with the RGB strips and they are so bright. I am going to need to tone down the brightness on most of my elements but i cannot go back and redo all of the sequencing for all 15 songs i just completed. I hope we can get this in soon as my Halloween show will need this.

I had similar issues with LOR and discovered I needed to use MP3 files wit Constant Bit Rates. I was only having timing issues with Variable Bit Rate (VBR) Mp3 files. You can use Audacity to change from VBR to CBR. It made a difference for sure, something to do with the math.
