Unable to select multiple items in sequencer
« on: December 17, 2016, 08:34:05 PM »
I'm getting some strange behavior with xlights when I try and select and drag my mouse over multiple effects to select them. For any new sequences I create I am unable to do a group selection with the mouse. I can add them one by one by holding down the control key. What is strange is that when I open up my existing sequences I can drag my mouse over the effects and select a group of them. So somehow xlights is preventing any new sequences from doing a group selection with the mouse. I have both a PC and Mac and they do the same thing, so it seems like there is something in my main directory that is causing the problem. Any idea how to resolve this?

Turn off your timings by selecting the radio buttons, then you can drag over multiple effects.

Thanks, that works. But why can I drag a box with multiple items on my other sequences with active timing tracks? I don't know why it works on my others and not anything new that I create.

With a timing track active you can select effects only if there are timing marks on the timing track.  When timing track is active it's cell selection mode so you need timing marks to establish where the cells are.

Makes sense gilrock. Now I'm having issues with deleting effects. I'm finding when I press delete on the keyboard it works only about 30% of the time. Right clicking and selecting delete is a little better working 70% of the time. Sometimes when I try and delete the effect is copied on top of itself within the same layer, but shifted a few tenths of a second. It looks like a double image of the effect in the sequencer.

I made a short video of my delete problems. In the video it takes several attempts to delete an effect. Then I had a group of effects that I previously changed to "on", but two of them would not change. The remaining two would not respond to "update" but would change once I dragged the new effect to it. These are just two examples, but I'm coming across several small problems that are happening identically on both my PC and Mac versions. It's like there is something within the sequence that's causing problems on both versions of the program. All my older sequences work fine when I open them up.

Sorry I have trouble following what is happening if there is no narration.  I've seen cut, copy, paste fail and need to do it twice.  I don't know who screwed it up but somebody changed something.

Sorry I didn't have my computer setup to narrate as I was going along. Basically when I was attempting to delete the first effect it took multiple attempts before xlights responded and actually deleted. The second effect deleted on the first try. With Christmas right around the corner I don't have time to try and figure out what's happening here, so I'll post more in a bit assuming the problem continues.

Why are you right clicking then selecting delete? Just hit the delete key.

In an earlier post I mentioned that pressing the delete key on the keyboard only works about 30% of the time. Right clicking works about 70% of the time. I would say that could be attributed to an old and slow computer, but I'm having the exact same issues on my PC and a brand new Mac. The issue is attached somehow to the sequence itself since my older sequences do not have this problem if I open them up. The problem is only present on any newer sequences that I create. I don't know what could cause the behavior I'm seeing.
