Backup folder ?
« on: January 09, 2017, 09:22:36 PM »
What is supposed to be in the backup folder?
files with .xbkp are scattered out in the show directory.
And files like in the capture photo are in the Backup folder
I'm trying get necessary files transferred from laptop sequencing computer via zip drive to the show computer.
And I thought necessary files would be in the backup folder.

Things in the backup folder are just all xml files at a point in time.

Your show computer only needs the fseq files

Thanks Jim,

If I make changes in the setup and the layout, will those be in the fseq file also?

No setup and layout are in the xlights_***.xml files.  He said fseq files because you said show computer.  You wouldn't normally need all your setup just to play the data files for your show.

Thanks Gil, yes actually I wanted to have everything on the show computer that was on the laptop. Copying the whole folder from one to the other looks like best way to do it.

I don't have a show computer (FPP user), but I do use multiple computers and I keep a complete backup of everything on a USB drive.  I then sync the usb drive to the computer I am working on.  But I try never to do any sequence development or layout changes on anything but my primary desktop and I consider that the master unit.  So if anything is out of sync I go back to my main desktop and get a fresh copy of everything.  My other computers are mainly used for testing or for showing stuff to my wife (on her computer).  I do not use the usb drive for anything but as a backup.
