I downloaded 2017.17 (64 bit) tonight and when I opened up xlights I got a very long error message popup showing that all of my models were overlapping each other.   I went ahead and opened up a sequence I am working on and used the "check sequence" utility to see if the overlaps were still noted before and after rendering; they were overlapping in both cases.   So I rolled back to 2017.16, re-rendered; no similar problems noted.   I can reset 2017.17 as my working executable again and post the xml files if needed.   I figured I should stay with 2017.16 for now so I don't corrupt the file I am working on...

You will need to share your files with us. It sounds like you have a model name problem.

Here are the xml files for the "offending" sequence and a screen capture of the "multiple errors" message popup when xlights opened up after downloading 2017.17.   If I need to post the 2017.16 files, I can do that too....

Can you give us a hint as to which model you expect to start on channel 1?

Gil-I actually have universe 1 (510 channels) reserved/blocked out for AC channels that I plan to add later this year; will drive them with a DIYLEDexpress bridge.   Tree2 is the first universe/channel in the rest of the layout; univ 2 channel 1.

Hmm...well I'm getting the same errors in .15 and .13 so it doesn't appear to be something new in .17.

Well the model name I see is "Tre2" but the first model that is supposed to chain to the end of it is pointing to "Tree_2" so that's why there is a disconnect.  See attached image.  The red box is where the first chain says it's pointing but since that name does not exist you can see the field with the blue box is blank.  You need to go through and fix up that chaining since it looks like the names changed.

And I fixed that one link and all the errors go away.

Thanks Gil.   I had renamed a bunch of models so I could readily differentiate between models and groups when I am importing files.    I corrected the occurrence of "Tree_2" in the xml file and all is well, as you noted.   I checked the layout tab to make sure I hadn't typo'd in xlights when I changed the model names; none found...   I really appreciate your help sir.

Yes I believe there is room for improvement in the software here.  You clearly had a non-existent name but the program was showing a completely different start channel name in the upper pane.
