Significance of Grid in Custom Model Creation
« on: August 24, 2017, 08:22:20 AM »
Within the model setup, when using the grid under Custom Model, we are given the choice of what size grid to use.

I am wondering:

What significance is there to the size of the grid?
- Does creating a larger number of locations provide a plus for any part of the process?
- Does creating a larger number of locations create a processing problem?
- Is there an "optimum size" for the grid?
(Of course I understand having a grid large enough to handle one pixel per location.)

It's like resolution.  The more resolution you have the smoother you can draw a curve or angled line.  The downside is the bigger you make the grid the slower it is to work with.

Thanks Gil.  I thought that there might be a performance hit with having to process all those empty "holes".

In our continuity book we are marking it up as, "make the grid as large as you need, making sure each pixel has a home.  Keep the grid as small as you can to maintain performance."
