Fire with Embers
« on: September 16, 2017, 07:56:33 PM »
OK, saw a video, can't remember where. But, it was a fire on a mega-tree that had random embers floating up from the top of the flame. Some white, some orange and some red. They were wavy as they went up to the top and faded as it went up. Much like a real fire with embers popping up and disappearing.

I've played around with my mega-tree and uses a layer below and added different effects but have yet to duplicate it.

Anyone??

JUst add snowflakes below the fire effect (one effect for each colour you want) and
goto layer settings->transformation and choose Rotate 180 degress , to have snow fall up (or embers)
To make then fade out, goto Layer Blending->Out Transition tab->choose Fade from the box lsiting and nominate the time in secs in the adjoining box for your embers to fade away.

Thanks guys, great idea.

Found if I made the Max Flakes and Speed different for each colour it gave it a bit more of a random look.

My version as an xpreset is attached if anyone else is interested.
I know just enough to be dangerous :0

Thanks ozaz, now included in my presets. changed fade out to 2 and slowed speed for one effect just to randomise even further, thanks for the preset

I played with this idea and liked it. I also added the liquid effect at the bottom with very few particles and a very limited lifetime with the snow effect to make it look like the Embers were coming from one particular area.

On the bottom layer is a picture file which is at D:\xLight2017\pix\fireplace.jpg ( I assume on your PC).

Thats the one - wondered why the fire was so small in the effect.  Makes sense now.  :D
