AC controllers.
« on: October 06, 2017, 09:46:33 PM »
Noticed that Xlights is upgrading the AC sequence section.
Besides LOR and Falcon, which 110v AC controllers are compatible with Xlights/nutcracker? Is being DMX the controlling factor?
Read somewhere that not many of these controllers work very well with this software or the DMX. Some recommendations on most dependable to lest dependable are welcomed. Pretty new to this game. Thanks!

AC controllers, You can say all AC controllers that are DMX work with Xlights. What makes one better than another is the cheaper ones are strictly an on and off system. They don't have the capabilities of dimming the lights. So Its up to you on what you need it to do. Amazon 16 port controller straight on and off $70.00.

Falcon has never made any AC controllers - always been pixels.

The non-LOR AC controllers that I know of are the Lynx Express (now made by Minleon), the Renard series (many, many types).

The Lynx Express is only DMX control. They work perfectly with the DMX generated by xLights

Renard controllers understand two protocols - Renard and DMX. I don't have any but I know many of the original xLights people use them so I'd say they are compatible with xLights.

LOR controllers, except for the very old ones, can use both DMX and the proprietary LOR protocol. They use a different set of pins on their RJ-45 input but are otherwise compatible.
