Moving effects around with arrow keys (individual and group)
« on: September 29, 2017, 03:01:46 PM »
Running .30 on a mac.  Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue, or if it's a setting I need to change on my mac.  When I select one effect I am able to move it around with the arrow keys in any direction.  When I select multiple (by highlighting them all with timing tracks off), then try to move them up does not always work.  It's only intermittent which makes me wonder if it's a mac setting (not sure which one though).  I have put up the virtual keyboard thing and it does highlight the up arrow button when it's pressed.  Also occurred in .29, didn't notice it occurring in .28.

Do you have room for all those effects when you move them?

Could there be Submodel information in those rows that wouldn't be visible unless you looked at the Node/Submodel list?

It's not always possible to move them up.  Sometimes even when it looks clear its not.

. Looked at that and nothing in submodel or nodes.

Then you are going to need to package your sequence up or make a video or something.

If any effect is blocked from moving it blocks the whole group.  I'd have to see a screenshot.  Just think about this.  A model can exist on the grid in multiple locations if you have it shown by itself and you have model groups expanded that contain that model so that means it's possible to create a situation where effects moving from a single model have multiple destinations which can cause a block.

Forgive me for tagging on... is this the way I would remove the first 17 seconds from just my mega tree and then select and move the remainder of the time line over?  I cannot select anything as a group... one one thing at a time.

I am a total XL rookie and I have posted this on the FB support page... little help there.
I am also running on a Mac.  XL version 2017.32.  BTW, I have also posted this as a new topic with a bit more detail.
Thanks for any help.

Here's a GIF that shows how to group select.  First action I did after selecting was right-click delete.  Second action was holding down shift after making a select lets you drag the group.  I've customized my colors so may look different than yours.
