Manual Control over a DMX Channel
« on: November 07, 2014, 10:40:07 AM »
I have 4 LED color rail units on my house,

These have 8 Cells of RGB DMX Channels. The down fall to these units is there is an over all " Dimmer Control " Channel that enables 0 - 255 intensity control of the RGB Led's

in example of channel mapping Such is mapped -
RGB 1-3
RGB 4-6
RGB 7-9
RGB 10-12
RGB 13-15
RGB 16-18
RGB 19-21
RGB 22-24
DIMMER 25

Is there a way in the software to turn just certain DMX Channel numbers to be steady " ON " ? in this example Channel 25 to be fully "ON" all the time?

I have been trying a work around by creating the needed dimmer channel per LED unit in LOR as ALL ON and then exporting just these 4 Channels needed into Xlites, however have not been successful in getting the DMX channels to be steady on at a value of 255.

I am able to turn on the channels in TEST, but can not keep them on when running effects etc.

Ideas?

In NC, you would create a model and set the channel to 25. Call it Dimmer for this example

Set the model type to single color white. In 3.6 you can set the model brightness, I would set that to 100 to start.

Select your model you created (Dimmer) , use the color wash effect and set the color to white and use the slider to set the value.  This should then control your RGB channels 1-24 if they are slaved to ch 25 via the hardware controller.

I would select the OUTPUT TO LIGHTS button and use the sliders until I got the effect I wanted, then save that effect setting as a preset.

Do not ask to know all the answers, but ask to understand the question.

I've used this technique to turn on some single channel things like my tune to sign, an inflatable, my nativity blowmolds.  Works great.
