channels don't match need help
« on: December 16, 2017, 12:04:09 AM »
hey guys,
need some expert assistance.

here's my problem.  I have setup my channels on xlights and lor and they don't match.  I have tried to
fix it several times with no better results.

I have 1 16ch matrix using one ip.  then I have 7 models on another controller and different ip address.

I keep getting warning messages that I have different models on the same channel numbers.

I don't know how to fix it.

please help

Your start channels for the models probably both start at 1 which would cause an overlap.  Need to fix your start channels or show us a screenshot of the Layout tab.

i think I may have figured it out.   with a lot of trial error and watching quite a few videos.

I do have another issue I hope someone can help me with.

my channels match up and it looks good.    my issue is when I convert a xlights file to
lor I get a lot of channels at the end that say "net" and a model that has effects marked with
the each individual color.  the rgb channels are separated.

when I look where this pixel should be its not there.

I did a conversion for the lor sequence and it showed no problems.

do I have a older conversion when it didn't work.   if so how do I replace it with the correct.

does it rewrite the file when u re-save?

thanks for the help

I dont understand ... what is a lcc file ... to my knowledge we only support las and lms files?

Also the number discrepancy is because the lcc file seems to have lots more channels ... but then again i am no expert in LOR.

LCC is a LOR channel configuration file.

So kellyj you say you did a conversion and all the channels match up.  How did you confirm?  Did you check the verbose output option and view the results?

Which version of LOR sequence editor are you using?  I know our conversion used to work but who knows if LOR has changed things.

If you get extra channels then you must have more channels in the xLights setup than you do in LOR.

OK WELL I'M A LITTLE CLOSER.

I AM USING LOR VERSION 4.3.24 PRO   AND USING XLIGHTS 2017.32

I'VE TRIED THE CONVERSION WITH VERBOSE AND ALL OF THE CHANNELS
FROM LOR HAVE A CHANNEL COUNT OF 4463.

WHEN I TRY TO CONVERT A FINISHED XLIGHTS SEQ TO LOR I GET A CHANNEL COUNT
OF 4471.  PLUS WHEN I HAVE TRIED TO SEND IT TO LOR THE EFFECTS FILL IN DOWN WHERE
MY LOR CHANNELS ARE.

WHERE DID THE EXTRA 8 CHANNELS COME FROM AND WHY DO THE EFFECTS NOT FIT IN THE CORRECT
LOCATIONS?

FOR SOME REASON I ALSO HAVE 5 DUMB RGB FLOODS THAT DON'T WANT TO MAP.  I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT THEM CAUSE I HAVENT USED THEM IN XLIGHTS.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE THESE EXTRA CHANNELS CAME FROM OR HOW I CAN FIND THEM TO CORRECT.

THANKS AGAIN GUYS

I REATTACHED THE FILES SO HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL SEE IT

I added up all your network definitions which are on your setup page and it totals:  4,471.  So if you read the last sentence in my last post I predicted that was your issue.  Your Setup tab does not match your LOR setup.  And fix that damn CAPS LOCK.

thanks for the response gilrock.
I looked in to both my lor and xlights seq and saw there was a difference. (like u said)
lor shows I have 4473 channels.   and xlights shows I have 4473 channels as well.
well when I went to convert my xlights sequence for lor it does my channel comparison
the channels add up to 4475.

for some reason i've ended up with 2 extra channels.  My channel count in xlights is 1 to 4473.
and my channel count in lor is 4473. I don't know where the other 2 channels came from.

and by the way.....I apologize to you gilrock.  I apparently was anger posting this morning.  and didn't
realize the caps lock was on.

any ideas on my issue guys.  I am at a loss as to where the 2 channels may have come from.

Ok you keep posting different numbers.  Yesterday you said the conversion from LOR showed 4463 and xLights conversion to LOR was creating 4471 and you wanted to know why there were 8 extra channels.  So now today you give different numbers and say where did the extra 2 channels come from.  What changed?  Maybe if you try a 3rd time the numbers will match up. :)

sorry for the confusion.

I created my setup in lor and get a channel count of 4473.
I set up my channel count in xlights and it totals to 4473.    which I think is gonna match up correct.

so I create a short xlights seq.  about 20 sec. long.     to use for testing.

so I save the xlights seq......then I convert it over as an .lms file to use in lor.
for some reason it tells me I have a channel count of 4475.

my confusion is where did the extra 2 channels come from.   I even tried to load it to lor but it doesn't
load into the correct locations.

again thanks for the help and I'm just not sure how to fix this.

I only see 4471 channels in your xlights_networks.xml file.  If you've made changes on either xLights or LOR then you need to post the updated files.
