can't get Xlights to run on mac
« on: January 16, 2018, 08:01:33 AM »
Comes up saying in pop up

"lights" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer
Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the app store and identified developers

I have Lights on pc and followed the simple instructions for mac. Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you getting the file from http://dankulp.com/xlights/ and using the 2018.2 version?

If you right click on the xLights app from the find and select "Open", the same dialog should popup, but with and option to go ahead an run it.   You only need to do that once.

At one point I started working on signing the app, but no-one seemed to need it (or notice) so I stopped as it's kind of a pain.

Oh yeah it's kinda doing the same thing on Windows now.  I had to hit like a more options link and then Run Anyway button.

This seemed to let me open. Would be better for other users to have it open directly. On pc i did also have some issues but moved it to the c drive and a new folder and it opened. Thanks for the quick help. Let you know if i have any issues.
