Perspectives not saving?

2018.14.  Dual Monitors. 

* I setup the screen the way I want it, with the sequencer on the left monitor, house and model previews on the right.  All other windows are on the right with the previews.
* Click on "View -> Perspectives"  then "Save as New".  Give it a name (such as "Dual Monitor".)
* Close down xLights.  (Saving when asked.)
* Open xLights. 
* Click on "View -> Perspectives -> "Dual Monitor".

All the items that were setup are now on the same monitor, somewhat overlapped.

Nothing I've tried seems to get xLights to maintain a perspective that I set.  Any clues would be helpful.

I've got a perspective that loads my house preview onto my 2nd monitor.  Many months ago I think I've seen perspective issues with something messed up in the xml file.  You should be able to view the perspective parameters saved in the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file usually near the bottom.  It's not easy to read because it saves positions for all the windows.  But you could save a copy and do a diff after making changes and really see if its saved.  The other option I've done is just delete the entire section from the xml file and it will be recreated with defaults when you startup and then see if a new perspective will work.  If you do edit xml just remember to delete the whole key...everything from <perspectives through </perspectives> including deleting those start and end tags.

Deleted the perspective section, restarted.  First time it worked.  After that, nope.
I'll keep trying and will report if I find anything.

So when you say it didn't work the second time the question is did anything actually change inside the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file.  We need to figure out why its not writing that file if it didn't change because I guarantee you it's trying to update that if you hit Save when prompted.

Hey Gil,

When I start xlights and open a sequence and play the sequence my House model does not show on my 2nd monitor. if I pause or stop the sequence and just touch the Layout tab and then go back and continiue playing the sequence the house model populates the second monitor. And from then on it is showing unless I restart xlights.
