timing marks
« on: February 01, 2018, 11:33:56 AM »
I'm having an issue within the timing area. I only do animated  sequences and I'm have always had a problem with the timing marks. I will be working in a sequence and move the timing line to play the sequence from that point and I do not know to delete the mark to allow play of the full sequence. I know that there is a way, I've seen it done in the videos but have not mastered how to do it. I have always saved and closed and reopened the sequence which is time consuming. As always thanks for your help. Charlie J.

Not sure what you are calling the timing area.  There are two areas at the top the Timeline and the Waveform.  Either can be used to control playback.  I designed it to work exactly like Audacity so if you find help for Audacity xLights should be working the same.  If you click in the Timeline it will auto-play from that point forward.  If you click and drag I believe it just plays the selected section.  If you click in the Waveform it sets the start point for playback.  You can also select a region in the waveform to restrict playback.  If you want to play from the beginning the easiest way is to hit the Stop button in the toolbar and then hit the button to it's right that takes you to the beginning of the sequence.  Then you can hit the Play button or the spacebar to start play.

Yes, we are talking about the same area. Since I do not do musical sequences I do not work with Audacity, I do not know much about the controls within the timing area. What you have explained I know some what, what I do not know is how to delete the temporary marks in the timing area. Thanks  Charlie J.

I mentioned Audacity because you could always Google videos on using Audacity and gain knowledge about how to run the timeline in xLights.

I don't know what temporary marks you are talking about.  Is that the new section labels Keith added that allow you to quickly jump to section?  If its not that then any other marks disappear on their own when you click somewhere else to start play.  Like if you drag out a region to play you can't delete those marks you have to define a different play start area.  Just do a single click in the Timeline and it will autoplay and remove all marks that were somewhere else.
