Attaching an image
« on: January 17, 2014, 12:12:00 PM »
I'm trying to attach an image so it will show up in the post instead of just a link. How is this done please? Thanks!

Right below the text box (on a new message) you can find a square icon with an arrow.  It is labeled Attachments and other options.  Click on the text, and you can add a picture, or other file type attachment.

If a picture, then it shows a thumbnail version with a link to the full picture.

Alternatively, you can use a service like http://imageshack.us  to upload and resize your picture, and the service offers a link.  you use that link inside your posting ...  there is a photo icon that fills in the [ img]url[/img] that pulls the picture into your text.

It only shows the link, not a thumbnail of the image! Not sure what I'm doing wrong!

what was the filename?  maybe it was not recognized as an image?

yeah... that's the problem.
PDF files are not considered images (gif, png, jpeg, etc.)
Instead PDF files are documents.

If you want to display a picture instead, or alongside the PDF, then you'll need to create an image.

The easiest way is to show the image on your display, and capture it into your clipboard with Alt-PrintScreen...  then open an editor like MSPAINT and paste it in from the clipboard.  You can edit the image (crop, add arrows, etc.) then save to a file.  PNG, GIF and JPEG files are good choices.  Once you have a file, then upload it into the forum as described above.
