Addressing individual LED's with time and color?
« on: May 03, 2018, 02:13:50 PM »
Hello, I am very new to X Lights in fact I've only been playing with it for a month or so maybe 10 hours total.  So I could sure use some help.  I am also not up to speed with terminologies you all might use.
I'm trying to back light a printed light box with a photo of a female face profile with colored hair blowing back as if blowing by the wind.
I have 1) row of 20 RGB dome lights and 2) rows of 50 RGB Bullet lights.  I placed my LED's in a zigzag kind of matrix following the waves in her hair.(roughly rows of 10 or so but not evenly spaced.)  I want to control the lights fading on/off with timing and color with detail so I don't believe I can use a pre-programmed effect.  So left to right top row is 1 - 10 then next row down L to R is 20-11 then 21 -30 and so on.

Is there a way in X-Lights to control each of these rows separately with their own chasing seen while changing speed and color?  Also I have about ten LED's in the same strand randomly spaced I'd like to fade on and off  like stars twinkling.
I hope I am being clear and making sense.
Please let me know if this is possible, and/or if there's a better way to go about it.
Thank you
KAS

Yes most anything is possible and usually there are 5 different ways.  Zigzag is no problem you either use a Matrix model and set strands per string > 1 and it will zig zag or create a custom model and you can create whatever type of zigzag and spacing you want.  You can address any subsection of any model if you create submodels.

In the sequencer double click on the row heading and then again on the strand name. You can sequence at this level if you need to.

That's great news.  If it can be done I'll work through it and let you know how it goes.
I've viewed a few of the many video tutorials but haven't seen one on this.  If you know of one please pass it my way.

There are several older gents around here. Thankfully, I'm not as old as Jim Nealand. He's old. :) and just had another dang birthday.

I'm only in the 4th quarter of my century now.  Bigger print and staying off roofs are becoming more important every year.  See you at expo Jon.
