nutcracker to multi-fpp conversion
« on: November 25, 2014, 12:05:35 AM »
This is probably a basic question, with a basic answer, but it shows that I've not been paying attention.

I have many universes...
My older controllers/pixels used pixelnet universes 1-4 (32 e131 universes)...
I have my megapixel tree ready to add, and it alone takes 3 universes...
I also am introducing pixels on the ground, and this takes 2 universes...
If I have time, I'd like to put together my P10 panels, and that will give me another 12 pixelnet universes...

I'd like to place the old stuff on one FPP (universes 1-4), and leave room for future things on universes 5-8
I want to use another FPP as a slave, and put the tree (universes 9-11) and ground pixels (13-14)... again, leaving channel space for more stuff later.
I'll need to devote 2 FPPs (?!?) to the P10 panel matrix and I'll start it at 17 and go up from there...

So... how does this all work when I'm using whole house model, and doing all of my editing from a single xlights sequence?

I've already found that save operations are slow... all of the empty channel range is likely slowing me down.

But its my understanding that FPP#1 needs only its sequence data, and not the sequence data played by the other FPPs...  (the approach used by Conductor).

When I saved my xseq file, then converted to fseq -- I expected that I'd see multiple fseq files that would each be uploaded to separate FPPs.

Is there a tutorial that discusses "big" displays and how this is handled with the FPP master/slave?

I'd prefer not to break my work into multiple sequence files and do my sequencing as separate activities.  If I took that approach I would think the channel mappings would get strange anyway.

Thanks for reading through this basic (yet complicated) question. :)
