Brightness control
« on: September 01, 2018, 12:07:15 PM »
1st year to convert to X!ights.   Been working on 10 sequences since Feb.  Still building the. Mega tree. So while learning about that and power injection discover talk about running pixels at 30% and power and brightness and all that....    All that mind blowing stuff. And then it hits me....  Everything I am sequencing is 100% with some having adjustment to power at points in the sequence.  So, read more and learn you can"globally " change brightness.   But if I do that will I lose what I have at different brightness?  Example. Changed brightness to 25% on a section of sequence. If I change brightness curve for the model on the sequence what does that do to the 25% section that was at 100 for the rest of the model.  Will it be best to just change everything to a lower brightness and go through each sequence and adjust from there. So much to learn. So much to build. So little time.....

Brightness is one of those things where you can do it 20 different ways and everyone has their own preference.

Mine is to apply the brightness on the controller.

But if you don’t want to do it there or can’t do it there other places you can do it once and have it apply in all sequences include.

- in xschedule
- in the model dining curve setting (you will need to batch render to update your fseq)

You could also dim every effect in each sequence but this is a lot of work and you will forget to do it.

Thank you,  Changed the brightness on the dimming curves for each model to -70.  I think that was right. Only have the Mega tree, 4 - 2 foot spiral trees, 4 dumb RGB strips, and 2 dumb RGB 10 W floods. Everything else is AC strings.  Will go through each sequence and adjust as needed.
Watched a video today where the left half of a house was at 100% and right at 30%.  The right side actually looked better at 30%  Better color and was not blown out.
