Using "faces" in groups, or not
« on: September 25, 2018, 12:27:07 AM »
I have 12 singing bulbs (Boscoyo) that most of the time do the same thing at the same time.  I've assigned all of these to a group.  Unfortunately, I cannot get the group to respond by applying the face to it.

I can get the individuals to do it by assigning the same to each, but there is no taking advantage of the group.

For example:
In the attachment, under the "Bulb Choir" group,  the assignment on the left is what I am striving for.  A single assignment to the group that would work across all of the members of the group. Currently this is a "no go".

The assignment on the right, with each bulb receiving a face actually works.  With twelve of these, it is a bit tedious, but it does work.

Any information about how to make this work would be greatly appreciated.  With 16 singing faces in the main area, and another 12 scattered through the park, I think you can see the desire to simplify whenever and wherever I can.

Thanks in advance.

Al

First I'm wondering why its showing this as your first post and a new member from 9/16/18 when I can easily search and find all your old posts.

I haven't tried what you're doing but my first test would be to use a "Per Model" render style which is supposed to distribute the effect out to each model in the group as if it were dropped on each one.  Not sure it works if groups are double nested.

We had a "moment" when we were trying to cut back on all the reading.  This site was cut off.  In my initial attempts to re-initiate the account it went unanswered for quite a while.  I entered a new username, but it also took a while.  Now both accounts are there.  In either case, I'm back.

The trick that was pointed out to me was with the render style.  It works, 98% of the time.  Nice.
