Real time curtain effect doesn't match preview
« on: October 31, 2018, 09:40:57 AM »
I'm new to Xlights after spending a few years with LOR.  I got out my eight rgb window frames and put them up yesterday for a little minimalist Halloween action in order to try a few effects with Xlights.  I defined each window with the proper number of nodes top, bottom, left, right.  Origin is bottome right and the string goes counterclockwise.  I tried a curtain effect, one color with half of the frames going top to bottom and half going bottom to top.  It looks perfect on the preview, but on the windows, it looks nothing like the preview.  instead of color going up both sides of the windows at the same time, it seems to start at node 1 and go counterclockwise around the window.  There is no up and down action as desired.  I tried changing the pixel counts on top, bottom and sides, and it really doesn't affect it.  The other effects I tried seem to work as expected.  What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like your model definition doesn’t match the way you have them wired.

If you right click on the model in the layout and show the node layout xlights will show how it thinks they are payed out.

Wiring view should also work but by default it shows you it from the back. But you can right click and flip it over.

The node layout looks the same as the setup: Node 1 in bottom right, up 51, to the left 24, down 51 and to the right 24.  That's exactly how it's laid out.  I'll study it a little more and see if I can determine any rhyme or reason to the pattern it is putting out. Thanks!

Could it be you have the controller reversing the pixels?
