One thing to try is to start a new sequence, and try the text effect on that to see if you can get it to work at all.  Would help to determine if it's a sequence problem or an effect/layout problem.

If that doesn't work, you might want to either jump in the zoom room or package and post your files here, so someone can take a look at them.

Just made a 30 sec animation & just added text & did not work. Below are the Log files for this sequence. Maybe someone can see the problem.

You're dropping it on a group, not a model.   Text effects on a group rarely work they way you want them.  Maybe if you change the render style to one of the alternatives, but for the most part, put your effects that are specific to a model on the model.
