Unhandled Exception upon start of 2019.35
« on: July 18, 2019, 09:57:20 AM »
I've seen this on two different computers now.  Removal of xLights and reinstallation seems to get me back on track, but I'm trying to find out why this is happening.

xLights doesn't really get started when this happens.  Are there logs someplace that would help in finding out why this is happening?

C:\users\<you>\appdata\roaming is where the logs are

Thanks Keith.
Next time it happens, I'll grab that and sent it to you.

OK.  It has happened again.
Trying to start xLights.  Nothing has happened yet, except the "Unhandled Exception" message mentioned earlier in this thread.

xLightss_14cpp.log was found in the c:\users\al\appdata\roaming directory.

Thanks for anything you can see that will help me from having it happen again.

Al

I found another log file in that directory, but from earlier in the day.  (I don't remember it crashing before 3:59 PM., but here it is.)

xLights_14cpp.log.1 - 7/23/2019 @ 2:13 PM

Al

The latest file is:  xLights_14cpp.log - 7/23/2019 @ 3:59 PM

A few things of note that may explain some of the entries in the logs.

1.  I have a NAS that files were being stored on so that I could work from different locations and different computers around my home.  It made file management a breeze since no matter which computer I was working on, I would access the same files.  For several versions now, render and save times have been horrendous to the NAS.  To improve the wait and frustration, I am saving the "master" files on the NAS, but copying the sequence .xml from the NAS to the machine I am using to do work.  I have to remember to copy my file back to the master after each session, but it has made it more tolerable to work with.  Hence you will see reference to C:\Christmas\Seq xLights\2019 LWW Main\  and D:\Christmas\Seq xLights\2019 LWW Main.  The D: directory is on the NAS.

2.  I am trying to update the image files to C:\Christmas\Seq xLights\2019 LWW Main\Media\Images\*.*.  I have found no easy way to update image references.  I am deleting the image in the sequencer and then reapplying them at the new address.    The same holds true for videos, but they are in C:\Christmas\Seq xLights\2019 LWW Main\Media\Video\*.*  .

All local machines have the same version of xLights, and a complete compliment of files such as in the media directory, including images, videos, and music.

Re: updating the image files.. Click on one of them. Then ctrl+A to select all effects.
Now go to the path entry box in the effect box - it should still be an image effect from that first click.
Right click and there is a bulk edit path option there.
