sequence element mis match
« on: September 08, 2019, 07:38:36 PM »
Hi  I am not sure if this is the right spot to post this.  Please guide me to the right one if not.
I am trying to load last years sequence from my saved files and I get this box opening up.

Sequence element miss match

Model tree roof does not exist in your list of models.
It says this with all the models I used and saved last year.
I am using 2019.46  64 bit.  I did the updates last week and tried to open the files.
thanks in advance for your help

The best way to go from year to year is to create a new sequence and use the import effects function to bring in last years sequences.  Seems like there are always little changes that mess thing up and the process lets you make a lot of good changes as you become more experienced - like a better naming convention, better grouping, etc.  Once you have created a mapping file for the first sequence you import all the others will come across in minutes.

That sounds odd. That normally only happens if you rename a bunch of models or remove them.

I didnt rename or change anything.  I opened xlights and went to load the sequence from last year and no go.
I tried it again and same result.

Thanks for your help

Sure sounds like you dont have your show directory set to the right location. It cant find your props based on the names in the sequences.

I thought it was going to the right place.  I will double check it.  I didnt change anything from last year so not sure why it is doing this.

Hi .  I checked the show directory location and it is where all my items are. , fesq file,  xbkp file and the xml file with the nutcracker icon on it.
I click on the open sequence folder and it opens the folder showing the xml files.  I click on one of them and the box opens saying sequence element mismatch.
I dont know what is going on.
Thanks for the help.

If you're sure its the right folder then the models are missing.  Maybe the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file got corrupted.  Do you see all your models on the Layout page?  Unless you provide some files nobody can do anything but guess in the dark.

Ok . What files do you need to see and how do I do that?  I am better at building things than using a computer.
Sorry for that and thanks for your help

Package log files command gives you a zip file and include the sequence youre trying to open.  I'm not offering to help I'm just telling you how to get help.

This is the sort of thing that typically gets fixed pretty quickly in zoom.

Zoom link is in help menu and on xlights web site. Folks are in there right now and pretty much every evening until Christmas.
