Thinking about a jump from LOR
« on: December 21, 2019, 07:05:24 AM »
Have used LOR since S3.  Never could grasp PE, and I find SS kinda limited.  Also tired of file formats changing, and being made obsolete, every year.  All the work to convert, adapt, or start fresh with new formats, only to have them done away with the next year (intensity files, anyone?).  Is Xlights any more stable from year to year?  Does an update mean an entire year of redoing previous sequences?  How involved is it for pixels compared to LOR?  Is it really better?

I was very happy I made the switch from LOR to xLights.  xLight software has a lot more options than LOR software. They are alway updating the software but you will not need to reduce your sequences over or reformat them. When I decided to switch over to RGB lights from the led light strands that is when I switched to xLights.  The first year when I was learning xLights software, I programmed my RGB strands on xLights and then converted them back to LOR to run my show on LOR. The second year I went all xLights. Programmed sequences on xLights and ran my show from xScheduler. The xScheduler offers a lot more features/options than LOR show software. If you are going to look in to some new controllers, check out Falcon Controllers. They are great, easy to work with. The best place to go to see and understand xLights and setting up controllers with xLights is at xLights, Zoom room. There is a group of people that help people stuck with programming or setting up their controllers. It’s a good place to go and watch and learn. It’s at xLights.org, click on Zoom, Blue button upper right side of page, under Download button.
