« on: December 21, 2019, 11:19:52 PM »
Hi my name is Les i am new to the boards and i wanted to say hello.
lets start with a little about me.

i used to be into Christmas light computer control back in the early from 2000-2009 when it was all home made controller and home made triac boards.
at the end of 2009 when the economy when a little a rye i stopped with lights and i am about to start again in 2020.

i have bought a falcon f16 v3, transformer, and pixels for new project but i still want to use up all my old lights and controllers.
i have some dio 32 and running of them tb08 v1 9 no very old but still working.

the only problem i have is the dio 32 is 2 boards in 1 and x lights is picking up the first boards but not the second.

can you please help.

Regards Les Murray, Newcastle upon tyne. UK

You need to provide info on the hardware.  Never heard of some of those items.

This is my 13th year animated and I also have never heard of those boards.  I suspect that while you may want to use that old stuff you will find that the new stuff is so far superior and that you will have so many issues with the old stuff that you would be best to just forget about it.  I have old stuff that is a lot newer that yours and and I don't want to use them anymore or even subject someone else to trying to figure out how to use them.  Best wishes for whatever path you choose.

Hi thanks for the advice, the reason i want to use my older controllers i have a round 5,000 incandescent mini lights and i want to use them for a back drop on the house wall.
Just all white and i can get the most out of them before i change them over to pixels.

i am trying to learn to walk in the first year with rgb pixels on 1 main prop.
A 10ft tall bauble christmas tree that has a pixel bullet between each bauble.
i no it will be a show stopper.

nothing wrong with wanting to use older incans, but if you old board (dio 32 ?) wont' work there may be other newer boards you could replace it with. Depending if the incans are 2 or 3 wire ones then one of these might work?

http://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/product-category/lighting-controllers/  Alan does ship to UK, you'd have to ask him which is the board suitable for your lights
I know just enough to be dangerous :0

Les,

Are you adding two boards to the same LOR Setup Dialog, or creating 2 LOR setups? I didn't have a clear understanding of how that worked, so I made an LOR setup for each board. (Didn't work...) It would seem the parallel is that each LOR setup is for an "LOR network." So if this is the case you'll need to add the second half of that DIO32 as an additional controller, in a single LOR Setup. Double click on the one that's working and look for the "Controllers" "Add" and place the second 16 channels there. I seem to recall the DIO 32 actually took 2 sequential Device IDs. So if you're using "01" it assigns 16 channels to "01" and 17-32 to "02" so to xLights it should just look like DMX 1-32 if your LOR is the first thing in your Networks.

Jeff's advice is good if you are using the "Add LOR" option to add your controllers.  If you are using the "Add USB" option to add LOR controllers then you just need to allocate enough channels for all the controllers and xLights will assume its a new unit ID every 16 channels.
