Upgrade to new version of XLights?
« on: May 18, 2020, 08:47:15 AM »
Hi All, hope everyone is safe and healthy. Been a while since I have been here, my last show was 2017 and due to a vacation and family obligations in 18 and 19 hoping 20 will be a ok to run my show again. My software version of XLights is 2017.39, to upgrade to the newest stable version will I be at square one with my sequences or will they be ok. I imagine alot has happened over the couple of years of enhancements to program. Most of my hardware is from Ron's Holiday Lights controllers, been happy with them so hopefully they will be ok on newer software versions. My computer that runs the show is a Windows 10 version.

Thanks in advance

Just back up your show folder, upgrade, and answer your own question.

IMO, you might want to start at 2020.3.  After that things change a bit (much).

Do not open your old xml files, but use the import functionality and I suspect you will be happier.  There are several video out that discuss the import function.
