crashes on every (not responding) error message

I've encountered a strange one.  Each and every time it goes into (not responding) mode the software crashes.  I have no idea what caused this.  I first noticed it when I was using version 2020.18.   I updated to 2020.22 and I still have the same results.  However, .18 was stable until this evening and I haven't made any changes or even used the computer since last it worked correctly.  Any ideas would be very helpful.  Thanks!

What are you doing when it stops responding.

    Any number of different functions.  From what i understand it's fairly common for it to stop responding momentarily but then it always comes back. Until now.  The one that I can repeat time and again is if I move a model to a different preview then try to pull down the drop down list of previews.  It goes into the not responding mode and freezes then crashes at that point.    So far it's 100% repeatable.

Ok ... I finally got this to happen in a debug build ... it oddly wasnt earlier but it did crash in release builds. It will be fixed in .23. Thanks for your help with a clear bug report
