colour issues
« on: September 21, 2020, 07:35:45 PM »
Hey everyone, hopefully you are all having a fantastic Monday! I am having a little bit of an issue with my lights and was hoping one of you might have the solution!

I have 3 sets of lights, front window, side window, and lower roof (i will be adding more to the house over the next few weeks and some props including a mega tree before Christmas) each set of lights is controlled by a D1 mini running WLED, all 3 sets work individually and when synced in WLED to display colours and effects correctly.

I decided to have a crack at putting together a little light show using xlights and fpp pi, I created my first show (Christmas canon) and after a couple of hours I was ready to give it a whirl which is when i noticed that 2 of the 3 sets of lights are showing the wrong colours, I have checked all of the controllers and layouts and they all point to the correct things, I have used the test feature to individually test the red, green, and blue channels and individually and all together they show the correct (or at least the same) colours but when if I make a simple sequence to set "all" to red i get three different colours, if i set all three individually to red i also get three different colours.

anyone got any ideas on what to try?

I can't speak to your controllers, but I have several type of controllers.  I have always found it works best to set everything in xlights to be rgb.  I make three 30 sec sequences that turn every light to a single color (3 different sequences).  Then I play that sequence on repeat and change the controller color order until I get it to match what xlights thinks it should be.  Takes a little time but once done you are good to go for all sequences.  I also have short sequences that do bars up, down, left and right because I have at time not had them connected at the correct end or configured to match in xlights.

I ended up deleting the controllers and layouts and adding in and testing each one individually and changing the rgb order for each layout which didn't fix anything but it did point me to the issue... I goofed! when i was linking the layouts to the controllers I was changing the channel at the top of the start channel dialogue box instead of just changing the universe. changed all 3 back to a start channel of 1 and its all fixed!

thank you for taking the time to reply and giving me a place to start!
