Setup concerns?
« on: September 30, 2020, 11:11:41 AM »
Developers

I've reviewed the manual, I couldn't find a reference to "managed" in the controller tab, I also can't turn it off.  What does it mean?

For SanDevices E680, utilizing unicast and the latest upgrades in hardware and firmware, you can have more than 7 universes (max 12).  When you put in the E680 model and have more than 7 universes, a red line is activated on the universe line.  If it (the red line) has no impact on the models and controller no problem.

Also for some the the models in layout the Controller connection Protocol can't be changed (set to ws2811).  I'm using SanDevices controllers.  I've always assumed that Xlights treated all of the models as RGB color order, and I make the adjustments within the controllers based on the pixel type.  Has that changed?  I'm not uploading config data to the controllers..at least I don't think I am.

It seems that the MAC version of Xlights auto-updates from APP STORE, never saw that before.  Cool,  but if there is a major issue with the current version, can I go someplace to get a previous version while I wait for an update?

Managed to me just means that there is only one controller line with that IP address.  Unmanaged always shows up when there is more than one line in the contrller tab that have the identical IP address.

Thanks for pointing that out--I had not realized that either.  Is there a way (within the Mac settings) to disable auto-update?

I've always created a back-up folder for whenever I up-version (as that has always been the recommended practice).  But if it's being up-versioned automatically, that will be difficult.

Create your backup as soon as it updates now.

I posted earlier:

Does anyone have some insight into this issue?

I noticed this as well, I have a bunch of lights that use TM1804 chips and can no longer specify that.  It basically changes the color order, as long as I specify the color order correct in my F16s everything seems to work as expected.  If there is more to it than that, I am not aware of it.
