Model question for bushes and trees
« on: December 19, 2020, 01:23:24 AM »
What are people doing for models of their bushes and trees they wrap with pixels?  I am trying to redo my house layout in 3D.  I have numerous bushes of various sizes that I wrap in lights and the same goes with trees.  Today I just use a straight line to represent each tree or bush but wondering if there is something better I should be using. Thanks!

I have bushes and artificial mini trees that I wrap with 85 pixel strings I had custom made years back for a matrix I never built.  So I model the bushes as a 17x5 matrix and I model the mini trees using the tree model but in Spiral mode so it mimics the tree wrapping.  Models don't need to perfectly match they will still look good to the viewers.

Model placement to me just gives a "kind of" view of the display and helps with effects that move like pinwheels, curtains, bars and others.  But in reality the lights typically move so fast that very few viewers will ever detect something out of place.  I know there are situations that placement may make something noticeable, but that would be one of the lowest things on my list to tweak.  Just my 2 cents.
