Latestest Xlights Crashed
« on: December 20, 2020, 10:01:17 PM »
I had 2019 version of xlights on my pc. The last xlights show I ran was in 2018. After 2018 I updated to a later version but didn't run a show in 2019.  This week I got the program running and updated to the latest version. Last night I redid the controller setup, saved it and went to bed.
One strange thing I had noticed, was that there were two xights64 icons and two xschedule icons on the desktop.  I had picked one and then the other separately and after they started showed the same controller setup and layout that I made.  To night I click on one of the xlights icons to start the program.  The program starts with no problem, but the controllers were nothing like what I had before I save it last night. I  picked on a recent show directory and the controller setup that I had not setup last night but was different. Then trying  to work with it, the program freezes. I had to restart the computer. Click on a xlights icon, and it begins to start by displaying the first xlights logo that normally appears. Then hangs up. I restart and do it over and it hangs up.  I uninstall xlights from the control panel. And reinstall the same latest version. It hangs up and doesn't run.
Sorry this is long.
After typing the above, I decided to restart xlights again.  It starts up without hanging.  The problem still exist. My controllers are nothing like what I saved last night. I guess I have to delete what's showing and start over. If what I saved last is some where in a directory, I don't know where that is.

First thing you need to do is inspect those desktop shortcuts and delete the one that doesn't point to the latest version.  And make sure whatever you run is the latest version.  If you messed up the show folder just rename it so when you run the new version it can't find it and starts fresh.  Create a new folder and copy your 2018 contents into it.

Thank you for the reply Gil. The weird thing is, both desktop icons are pointing to the latest version.  I'll delete one of them.

I hear there are lots of folks to help in the Zoom room if you need it.
