Rename Sequence While Scheduler is Running
« on: December 23, 2020, 08:03:32 AM »
So our show is going great and we have had Santa go out and play guitar a few times in the past week. When he plays guitar, one of the songs has a tweaked sequence whereby a moving light stays on Santa so he can be seen and so he can see what he's playing on the guitar. This is also part of a tweaked playlist.

We've moved the tweaked sequence into the tweaked playlist on those nights but it is suboptimal since
1. Santa is limited to those hours that the playlist runs
2. When the tweaked playlist is scheduled to finish, it shuts down and the regular playlist starts.  Unfortunately, that means the regular playlist starts from the beginning so we don't get a full cycle through the playlist.

To optimize, we thought we could rename the sequences to effectively switch them in/out of our regular playlist, but didn't know if once the playlist starts, all the sequences are loaded/cached.
If we rename a sequence while the scheduler is playing...assuming we're not renaming it when the scheduler is playing/loading the sequence...will the scheduler pick up the renamed sequence?

I'll reply to my own post.  Apparently, the scheduler loads the sequence right before playing instead of at the beginning of the playlist.  Tested it yesterday afternoon and also looked at the log file.  So, just renaming the sequence worked well while the show was running.
