Hello all, we tend to use alot of effects such as subtle fades, gradients and morphs. Our system is mostly pixels, but we do have about 20 DMX floods. We?d like to situate the system to be able to render these effects as silky smooth as possible.
We use Xlights with an F48, F16 and various smart receivers.
Here?s what we?ve got:
Sequences at 40fps ? I do find this helps especially with DMX fades
Decent (not great) computer. Older i5 with gigabit capable card. No internet or other network activity?Card is connected directly to the F48. I would update the computer if I knew it would make a difference.
We use of F-amps and power injection where necessary.
Sequences are run from Xschedule.
Note that some of the serial runs from the F48 to the smart receivers are on the long side. They range between 50 and 230 feet. There are clearly more problems the longer the run.
Any suggestions to get improved performance? Even extreme ideas are welcomed. This will be a part of a permanent (not seasonal) display and we do not mind investing.
How much would it help to upgrade the computer?
