Newbie to xlights needing help with layout
« on: July 23, 2021, 07:17:58 AM »
Hello,
This year will be my first year using xlights. I started out with a raspberry pi running lightshowpi and 8 relays last year. This year I have all the pieces to assemble an 8' tall pixel tree controlled by FPP. This will be my only pixel element this year.
Where I am running into problems is in laying out my basic AC strands. I will have my gutters, windows and other elements in my yard controlled by FPP with relays. I want to model them in xlights like they would look on the house but cannot figure this out. I can make it work by creating each strand as a single node but just doesn't let me fully visualize my layout. Is there any easy way to do this or will I just have to settle for each strand represented as one flashing dot?

Thank you,
Brendan

You can make a long string of lights that work as one channel.  I don't have the program in front of me but I believe its done with setting the string type to Single Color White, number of nodes = 1, and number of lights for how many dots you want.
