Candle Effect Hue / color
« on: March 16, 2021, 05:14:20 AM »
I'd like to see the ability to change the hue / color of the candle effect. It would be great to change it for say st Patrick's day to a green candle flame.

In the color panel,  move the Hue to say 15? Does that get what you want?

No, it has no effect.  The FPP manual explicitly states that the candle effect is only orange based.  This is why I am asking for an enhancement request, so we can have different colored candle flame effects

I just tried it and the Hue slider on the color panel does change the hue of the candle effect.

Hi Gil,
So I was able to modify the color a bit with the HSV values.  I got a yellowish green.  Ultimately I am looking to create a blue or green flame.  Any ideas on how to do that?

The hue slider Should be able to do that. The only thing it won?t be able to do is change the colour distance which is defined by the red/orange colour distance.

I can only guess you don't know where the Hue slider is.  Here's short GIF I made that shows me moving the Hue slider and the color changes to all the ones you wanted.

Hi Gil,
First thanks for looking into this.  Yes that is the same hue control I have been using. So i decided to use a matrix model and it clearly works with the matrix.  I then tried again with the DMX Flood Area model and it still doesn't work.  I am assuming that is a bug and I can open a ticket if you would like so it can be tracked. I included a video below.

This is due to the fact that hue etc are never applied to DMX models. DMX models are an unusual beast in xLights with special handling which limits how they can be used. It is not trivial to fix this but it would be nice if we could.

Thank you for the explanation.  I changed the DMX floods to single node strings and it works as expected. Even though the models look wonky
