Hi
i am trying to windows fonts in x-lights but us os fonts ll not work only x-lights font will work
i am sure i could use os fonts last year ai doing some thing wrong?

Latest version of xlights? This should work fine .. the box has to say "Use OS Fonts".

i am using the latest x-lights 2021.38 64bit and yes i do have "use OS fonts" in the box and i have selected my font and size but nothing shows up until i select one of x-lights fonts then all works ok but not with the system fonts.

Are you using Windows 7?  I read on our Github issues list that the Text Effect was modified to utilize DirectX and that Windows 7 users seem to be having issues.  It sounded like there would not be a fix and xLights would just now claim it doesn't support Windows 7.  I thought DirectX was around for Windows 7 but maybe it doesn't support the required version of DirectX on Windows 7.
