Daisy Chain Multiple LOR Controllers/Setup in xLights
« on: December 20, 2021, 11:49:01 AM »
So I have my LOR Pixie16 setup outside to run my outdoor setup with WS2811 LEDs using up ports 1-13 on the Pixie16. I have just connected an LOR Pixie4 to the Pixie16 using a 100FT ethernet cable and have assigned it ID 2 whereas the Pixie16 is assigned ID 1. The Pixie4 controls the WS2811 LEDs on one of my indoor Christmas trees across all 4 ports. How do I go about setting up the controller to be recognized by xLights because it runs on the same COM port as my Pixie16 (which is COM port 3). When I tried to add the Pixie4 the same way as I did the Pixie16, there is, of course, a COM port conflict. I noticed a "Devices" option in the controller settings and I put in "2" as the # of devices and then selected Pixie4 with 300 Channels per Port and unit ID 2 underneath the already setup Pixie16, however, no lights on the indoor tree lit up. I was, however, able to test the Pixie4 with the LOR Hardware Utility successfully and it was being recognized along with the Pixie16. The LeDMX Pro 4 controller is running just fine, as a side note.

The Pixie is going to use a new unit ID for every output so your 2nd Pixie will need to be ID #17.  You might have bandwidth issues since the Pixie's will never run as well in the xLights environment as it will under LOR.  Also LOR recommends you have the red high speed dongle if you have more than 50 pixels per output.

I've been using the black High-Speed dongle from LOR and it seems to work just fine. But is what I am doing correct as far as setting "Devices" to "2" and setting Pixie4 as the second Device?

I told you what I think you need to do to fix it so the rest of what you said you did was fine.

Light indicator is solid on the Pixie4 but still no response from the lights, so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. The Pixie16 has Channels 1-6000, which I assume some of those are being used for the Pixie4. "Real Tree" lights are what are to be controlled by the Pixie4, so I'm not sure if it's my channel configuration but I have it configured to start at the first channel for the Pixie4 (which I presume is 4801 since the last channel on the Pixie16 is 4800). I could be wrong, though.
